I'm happy to 'fess up – I had Botox once in the frown line area. I can't say it made me happier, and it was quite disconcerting not being able to frown, although I could still move my eyebrows as normal. Once it wore off I was more aware of how often I do frown. But I haven't had it done again …

I don't know if it made me happier, but I can verify that it made me younger looking.

When I first had Botox, my husband cheerfully said "This is the first time EVER that you're not frowning at me!" I'm a chronic 'frowner'. Finally, my face looks like I feel inside…serene, happy. Botox definately made me happier as I no longer look like 'that crabby lady' and people react to me differently. My kids have stopped asking if I'm mad at them!

I love my Botox. Yes, it makes me less cranky. The first couple of times I thought I was imagining it, but after two years I know it's true – I just feel happier in the month or so following the injections. In this economy I need all the help I can get. And by the way, I don't think it affects my looks all that dramatically, so I really am going back every four months for the happy feeling.

Never had botox or, at least, not yet. But I've been thinking about it for a while and might take the plunge one of these months.

My first botox treatment coincided with starting lisinopril (an ACE inhibitor) and I was sure (until I read the research you pointed to) that the lisinopril is a marvellous serenity/happy pill in addition to its other properties. Now I am wondering if it is the botox!

I had my frown lines injected because I DON'T WANT TO BE ABLE TO FROWN EVER AGAIN. My face is very expressive and I could see the effect of my frowns on those I interacted with. Just think about it: if you can't frown, you won't be upsetting everyone around you with the frown. It really does make a difference.

I still suspect that the lisinopril is slightly responsible for my new ultra-serene and peaceful demeanor, as when I forgot to take it yesterday I woke up in the night having a nightmare with a thumping heart, and I realized I have not had a nightmare since starting the lisionpril (until last night). But goodness yes, I heartily recommend botox or the other similar injectable.
