I’ve read studies that say only 27% of women enjoy shopping for clothes, but that women spend as much time thinking about shopping (though all types of shopping) as men think about sex.
So I want to know from you how you feel about shopping and the types of shopping you enjoy or hate.

I love shopping for running clothes – I always know what I’m looking for, and go to specialist shops where the assistants know what they are talking about and are trying to find things that will really work, not just meet their sales quota. I usually do research online before visiting a shop, and spend plenty of time trying things on and checking the fit. And there are only a limited number of choices, although these days there is a pretty wide range of colours on offer so I can always find something that looks as well as feels good. So my running wardrobe consists of a few high-quality items that work well on me, are worn week after week, cared for and deeply loved. Ok, there are more shoes than strictly necessary, but they all get worn.
Contrast this with the pain of shopping for normal clothes. There are way too many things to choose from. By the time I’ve waded through 100 items on the rail, zipped past the colours and styles that really are not going to work and tried on 20 that don’t look quite like I had hoped, all I want to do is stagger from the shop and find a cup of coffee. After dropping a dress size, working my way through Imogen’s very useful style book and culling everything old and tired from the wardrobe I was really looking forward to a spring update, but all I’ve managed to find since Christmas is one pair of jeans! Oh, and another pair of running shoes…..

I’m with you. Workout gear is so much easier! I love the idea of shopping, of finding something great that fits with all I’ve learned here. Finding it is another matter, and I too leave feeling frustrated.
I really enjoy shopping for clothes, but I have to be in the right frame of mind and have to take it in manageable chunks, say 2/3 hours at a time. I have a tiny budget, so I have to be really disciplined but I enjoy tracking down just the right item to add to my wardrobe. The internet has been a godsend in cutting down on the legwork.
I love shopping for accessories, especially scarves and necklaces and , because these are relatively inexpensive, I feel I can allow myself to indulge myself alittle in this area.
My pet hates are crowded stores, sales (except online) and shopping when tired or hungry.
I really like your blog. Inspiring!
