How to Make a Shrug from a Square Scarf

Turn a Scarf into a Shrug

You may have noticed that I wore a scarf as a shrug on Melbourne Cup Day, and one of my lovely readers asked me to show how I made it.

Luckily it’s very simple! There are two ways of doing it – the non-sew and the sew options.

If you’re not a sewer or don’t want to permanently change your scarf, all you have to do is to fold the scarf in half lengthwise then tie knots in each corner, the holes then become sleeves.

If you don’t want to sew, just tie the corners together for a temporary shrug

If you’re happy to turn your scarf into a shrug permanently, you can just sew a straight line up the edges, leaving a hole big enough for your arms as I did.
